John Lydon/Johnny Rotten is 47 today.

Going out tonight with Brad and some other locals to downtown.
A friend of mine (Richard) is doing a drag show of sorts.
He isn't a cross-dresser or anything, just doing a character based on a great aunt of his.
His character is an old jewish woman.
I havent seen him do this character before, so really looking forward to it.
Bringing the camera and taking pics.

Brad has class tonight.
We are getting the most snow this season yet.
There was 3 inches of snow covering my car in the parking lot. I forgot to clean off my headlights and could hardly see, they were so dimmed out.

At home, watching American Idol.

Random notes:

Found out Im getting a bonus this year. I didn't get one last year.

I think I might pursue getting Sun (unix stuff) certified this year.

This weekend when Brad is doing homework. Im gonna go out with my friend Navin and go see a scary movie, we havent decided which one yet.

I like to keep it just a little above my shoulders.
Been watching what we eat all week, so I get to have pizza tomorrow while watching the Super Bowl.

It was -4 outside this morning when we woke up.
It was so cold, it felt like I wasn't wearing any pants.
My eyes were watering from pain by the time I walked into Sears Tower and hurt for the first hour at my desk.
I wore my fleece OSU shirt to work, and the new fleece scarf mom got me.

I got some "early but still perfect timing" birthday gifts from my mom.
Pink fleece shirt and pants for around the house.
Light green fleece scarf, gloves and hat.
The hat is pretty cool too...It fits on my head loose so it doesnt funk up my bangs when I take it off!
Perfect!!!
I put on my fleece right away and wearing them now!
*mom is so cute....so determined to get me in "colors" and away from my drab black*

Thanks mom!
I love you.

Mellow day.
Brad had a paper that was due today to work on.
So I ran errands, went grocery shopping, got a new coat for Brad since the zipper tore off his old one.
Everyplace was packed today.
I was wore out by the time I got home.

I've been playing this song on repeat....now Im gonna go shower and keep singing it.

Who that is?
Thats just my baby daddy
Who that is?
Thats just my baby daddy
Who that is?
T-Bird, thats just my baby daddy

I just finished watching "Portrait of Jennie" and "Imitation of Life". The best old movies are always on on Sundays!

Brad kept distracting me with his "Science Fiction Theater-esque" comments while he did school work and blog updates on the computer.

Luckily for the big ending of Imitation he was in the bathroom, so I could totally get absorbed into it and cried my eyes out. It was so sad, but a really great movie. The story of 2 single mothers and ones rise to fame with the underlying story of societies treatment of blacks compared to whites in the 60's.

And Portrait, was great too. A struggling artist finds his muse, a little girl. She ages several years everytime he sees her. To find out she died a long time ago and visits him.

For about the first time ever...I shoveled the driveway, sidewalks and front porch last night. It felt good, good exercise. Brad and I have been watching what we eat since Weds. It helps, us doing it together, A LOT. Just since Weds, I've dropped 6 lbs.
It motivates me to keep going, to see the numbers drop, like it had before but when it stops I get frustrated and slowly go back to eating like before. So maybe this time with us doing it together it will be a little easier to keep up.

We watched Signs tonight.
LOVED IT!!!

I love how the director just trickles the big picture info in slowly scene by scene, and how it all comes together just like in The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable did.
A very particular style.
When I found out he was in his own movie as the guy that caused the accident....I thought that was very Alfred Hitchcock of him. And he did a great job with a very tense scene too.
That little girl was just TOO cute. Such big pretty eyes.
Even how the music jived with the scene..just very well thought out.
We watched some of the DVD extras after words, then I had to go back and see some of the particular scenes again in slo-mo. All the long shots, and angles, silhouettes and shadows. VERY COOL!

I found this link today. All I knew is it said "talk to your friends without talking".
I thought it might be one of those cool sites that will have this robot male or female voice call whoever and say whatever you want.
Bell Labs used to have something like that up.
Those kinda things are just HOURS of fun for me!

So I entered in my own number to see what it was like.
The screen said dialing, and my phone rang.
I answered "hello". A woman said HI, a REAL live woman...no robot!!
Asked if I had a "relay call" before. I said no. She said it was a service for deaf people, and she would relay the message from the user to me. So I typed "Hi, this is Tim." and then she repeated it.
It was weird....so I had a mini conversation with myself and then hung up on myself.
On the screen it said that the caller hung up.

Still busy at work mostly.
Brad and I have Monday off for Martin Luther King Day.
Looking forward to it.
Brad and I have just started trying to eat better.
I am willing to give it a try.
Keep an open mind to it.
Still eat stuff I want, but limit it a lot more.

Last night he chopped up some eggplant and grilled it up and dipped in a fat free sour cream. I also picked on some pistacios, wasabi soy beans, we split an apple and a plum, and tried some hot kashi grain cereal.
This morning we split kashi and another plum in the car on our way to the train station.
I had an egg salad on wheat for lunch, and planning on having raw red pepper and mushrooms in a hummus dip tonight.
I still have to get pizza frm Lou Malnati's every now and then, and I will still want a piece of that heavenly chocolate cake every now and then when I go to Portillo's.
But in between those times, I could be a little better.

And Im finding new foods I like, and aren't such torture to eat.

It was nice, good food, comfortable conversation.

Stupid blathering about stupid TV shows:

I get excited to watch these stupid trashy reality shows.
I get totally sucked into them.
Guilty pleasure.

Lets see, this week started with Joe Millionaire.
I'm still iffy on this show.
I didnt like most of the girls, except a few.
I am so glad that Asian J. Lo wanna be with her big splashy hair and J Lo sunglasses did not get picked, she was just annoying. I also really hate Heidi the curly blond chick. She just sees this as a race.
I was impressed that he learned to dance and ride a horse well enough to look good doing that.
I feel there is something missing though.
Why does he only make $19,000 a year?
I thought construction workers make pretty decent pay.
So is he lazy, and opts not to work a lot?
He did say other girls left him for not being "motivated" enough.
I am fine they are lying about who he is...but dont think they should make him so extremely poor.
I'm sorry but $19,000 IS POOR!!!
I hope he is "motivated" enough to accept some job offers after this show.
He is attractive, and I could see him doing TV shows, local DJ, maybe even model.

Last night I watched The Bachelorette.
I LOVE TRISTA!
She is so gorgeous and sweet, works as a pediatrician and loves kids.
She seems to take this very seriously, and really wants to get married and have kids.
I love the quality guys she has to choose from.
It will be difficult...a lot of them look and sound very nice.
Some of them were a little goofy, a few a little nerdy, and one that stuck out as too old, but they got voted out last night pretty much.
I cant believe she picked the stupid rodeo cowboy guy who needs a haircut!
I dont like him...he is a goofball.
AND I WAS SOO HAPPY I SHE VOTED FOR BOB.....I WAS YELLING AND CHEERING "YAYYYYY!"
Brad said he was a dancing clown, but I really liked him, he looked so sweet harmless, and he is so funny. He is just like a big kid. I LOVE HIM!!

I am not surprised she cried after it was done at all.
She seemed shaken.
All those guys staring at her longingly.
Smiling.
Then watching their smiles fade and look worried as the last few roses are left.
IT BREAKS MY HEART TOO!
Cause I think for most of them this isnt just a game, they really do want a chance with her.
I was so happy at the amount of great guys she gets to choose from.

Then I watched Celebrity Mole
I like Kathy Griffin...I like her complaining.
She was pissed they actually expected them to do tough stuff.
She wanted to do it with Queen Latifa, but Queen backed out...now its Corbin Bergen (sp?), some guy from Dinotopia, Frederick (who has major wrinkles now!), Stephen Baldwin (major annoying asshole in everyway possible!), and a girl from the show girlfriends (who was the first to go last night)

I think the mole is either Kathy or Stephen.
Kathy because in one stunt she was supposed to be herding sheep and she was "herding nothing" standing around where no sheep were with her arms out.

Stephen because is goes off on his own too much, is quick to point the finger at other people, and because I think he did the last stunt which gained a lot of money for the group just so they wouldnt suspect him. AND BECAUSE I REALLY CANT STAND HIM!!!

I am really excited about the show tonight, Surreal Life!!!
I hope Brad watches it with me.

This entry will be using a "mom filter" which is also "I don't want to embarrass Brad due to his wife's mouth filter"
:)

Brad has a class today after work, so I was going to the train by myself.
A pissy suit looking guy with white hair in a suede cowboy hat kept shoving me as we got close to the door of Union Station.
After the second shove, he leveraged his arm in front of me to push me back so he could get in the open door that was directly in front of me first, instead of opening the closed door that was directly in front of him.

I spat "$%#&*@&#^@!"

He went on a different escalator then I did going down, giving me quick side glances.
We got down and he started stepping away, but then stepped back coming towards me.

I was smirking.
I stopped and waited for his planned out retort.
"Besides your use of vulgar language, you need to learn when to keep your mouth shut."
That last part really cracked me up!
And of course he starts stepping away not wanting to discuss him shoving me, and me having reason for saying what I did.
So I said laughing at him "Whatever $%#&*@&#^@." Then told him to #$^#&@ &%.

I will be looking for him and his hat now.
Everytime I see him I will say "Hey $%#&*@&#^@!", as my little greeting.

Been busy today.
Still catching up on work after taking the holidays off.

I have a little ornamental grass kit that Brad gave me for Christmas on my desk.
ITS GROWING!!!
I actually clipped some of it today.
Brought in some Hyacinth bulbs too.
I am at work so much...I like to at least make it bearable.

Fred (mom's bf) is in town until tomorrow, and called to take us to lunch.
Brad wasn't able to make it.
We went to Rosebud on Rush.
I had the Veal Marsala....VERY GOOD.
The meal was wonderful.
It was nice, good conversation.
He humored me while I asked all sorts of questions about him, getting to know him better.
He really is a great guy. Loving, giving man.

On the way out we both had to get our coats from the coat check.
I left my cell phn and wallet in my coat pockets.
DUMB...yeah...I know.
But I dont have any pockets and didnt know what to do with it.
I hugged him good-bye and hopped in a cab.
I opened my wallet right away, to figure out how much to give the driver, when I saw my money was gone.
It was only $23...but still.
So I told the cabbie, but he didnt accept credit cards like some of them do, so I said sorry and got out.
I got out only a block down and Fred was right there.
I told him what happened, since he wondered what I was doing.
I was just gonna look for a cab that took credit cards, but he hailed a cab and gave me a $20.
I thanked him and told him how foolish I felt.

I called the restaurant when I got back to work, and asked for the manager.
It wasn't that busy, so I just wanted them to know as an FYI so they might be able to isolate which person it might be if they have had that problem before.
The manager was new, said he didnt know the staff very well, but would tell the other managers and thanked me for calling and how sorry he was.
He took my number and said he would call me back.
I told him the food was still wonderful.

Added a "real news" section on the right, under the links section.
Lots of educated opinions and links to current event and national news.
But cooler...because they are blogs, unmediated, unedited entries.
They dont have anyone to answer to, to write and link what they want.
Good stuff.

Brad and I are meeting Fred today for lunch at Rosebud.
He is in town for a couple of days.

Brad has his first day of class tonight.
This class and one to go until his MBA!

Enjoyed having the end of last week off.
Time to go back to work.
Work a regular schedule again....

Fred is in town in Chicago this week, he has a busy schedule, but hopefully Brad and I can meet up with him before he leaves on Weds.

Yesterday Navin came over to show me a house he was interested in. By the time we got there he changed his mind. It was too far out from anything and in a bad area. But a great looking house and lots of room.
So we went to lunch at Rock Bottom and hung out at Border's for a bit.
I bought some 50% calenders for our kitchen and office.

THAT WAS A KICKASS GAME!!!!
WHOO-HOO!!
OSU!!

We saw Lord of the Rings today.

I found out I like imitation crab and prunes...just not together.

I wore my OSU pullover today Sunny gave me for Christmas.
Tomorrow Navin is coming over, he wants us to check out a house with him he is interested in, and then maybe go out to eat and a movie.
We are getting ready to watch the game.
