Still super busy.
Been reading more than posting.

Thanksgiving was nice and relaxing.
I alternated days of work, got all my christmas shopping done, wrapped it all, did laundry, put laundry away from last week, emptied and filled dishwasher, and cleaned up the kitchen from Thanksgiving cooking. Rented Harry Potter 2 and Lord of the Rings 2 to watch on Thanksgiving Day and the day after. Brad has been busy with school work, and studying for the end of the semester coming up.

On our day off for Thanksgiving, we got up, went through White Castle for a snack and then went to go see the dogs. Other volunteers were there too, so there wasn't much work to do, and we were able to just spend time with our favorites playing with them.

Gemini (one of Brad's favorites), Tawny (Gemini's puppy roommate), Aussie (one of my favorites) all got adopted. Hennah is now available for adoption. Sugar has lost weight and showing more energy and seems happier. Marco seems to be doing better too. He was playing with his toys with me, wagging his tail. I think the only reason he hasn't gotten adopted is because most people that want him already have a pitbull or pitbull mix and he doesnt like that. He likes cats and smaller dogs, but doesnt like other big dogs.

Saturday we went to walk dogs. There was another volunteer there, so all the dogs got walked in an hour. So then before we left we spent fun time with the dogs.

After that I ran some holiday errands, and then got my haircut. When I got home, Brad was taking a nap and I was ready for one too. Slept for a couple of hours. He was ready to go back to school work and I had plans to go out to Bob's parents place for a screening his editing of the Arthurian Tales. Combining 16 hours of movies together to cover the timeline. Some of the scenes were really funny, and one really odd french film edited in there too. I love watching movies, all movies, good, bad, old, and new. Bob's parents place was really cool. Huge screening room to show movies and had about 800 reels of film all over the place, his dad collects them. Had some huge film equipment too, the size they have at movie theaters, that he maintains himself.

Today was finishing up Christmas shopping and wrapping. Had a bunch of weird dreams, dreams of me dreaming and telling Brad about them again, then unsure if I just dreamt about saying words out loud or if I really did. In and out of dreams like that all morning, since we didn't get out of bed until noon.

Now for the dogs!

Marco was feeling more upbeat and playful.

Sugar has trimmed up a bit, ran and jumped around with me outside!

Spirit is new, very cute beagle puppy. Loves to kiss.

Cleo is a burst of white blurry energy when she first gets out. But when you sit down near her, she just wants to jump in your lap and hug.

Sphynx is a beautiful dog, 6 month old puppy. I hate his name though, tough one to yell through the house, or outside across a field....difficult to enunciate. But very sweet dog.

...and of course Hennah. Funny how her tongue curls in that one shot. And I like the last one, looks like she is throwing her head back in laughter.

I had a doctor appt this morning but still needed to stop by the shelter before I went home. Brad was there but getting ready to leave when I got there. He walked down the kennels with me while I checked in on everyone.

He had a favorite he wanted to show me. A 7 month old German Shepard named Hennah. We both went in her kennel and sat with her. She walked in between us and laid down, just like Goli, likes to be in the middle of things. She didn't bark while I was there, just sits very sweetly. Brad said when he took her on the walk, she pulled him out, and when it was time to head back she didn't want to go and cried. So he sat down with her outside and spent time with her. He really liked her a lot. When we sat in the kennel with her, and she would cry a little, I'd tell her how she would be in a home in no time, laying on the bed with a new family, and how they would all love her. She is just so great to kiss and hug.

After Brad left, I asked someone what happened with Marco. They said they thought someone was going to adopt him, but at the last minute they changed their minds. Last time I saw him, I thought he had a cold. Turns out he has some allergies, and they are thinking about giving him some Benadryl. He seemed a little down last time, I thought because of the supposed cold, but this time it was obvious. He is depressed. So after Brad left I went in and sat with him. He didn't even raise his head, just laid there. So I just kept talking to him and petting him, and would lean over and kiss the top of his head. I felt so bad for him. Luckily one of the staff members was going to an event at a PetCo, and decided to take him with her. That perked him up a bit. He got to leave and go out for a car ride.

After that I went over to see Aussie. She was just as happy as ever and was very understanding of my spending time with Marco before her. She jumped up on my shoulders again to hug and just hang on me. We sat and played with some of her toys. We were having a good time, but then some people came through on the other side, so I threw her toy so she would run over and let them see her, and then stepped out while they had her attention.

Charlie was a big shaggy dog. Looked like a Snuffleupagus. He found a home while I was there!

Lady was a new puppy. Very soft and kissable.

Marge was fun. She was 3 or 4 I think. Really funny. We played and ran up and down the run together, I would dart around and she would get all excited and scoot around.

Cleo was next to Marge. Super active, but not too much. Very playful and kissy.

Sugar is another depressed dog. Everytime I see her she is laying down and doesn't move. She is a 5 year old Coon Hound. I spent a lot of time with her. Just sat there and talked real softly to her. After awhile she moved around, I took some pics. She is really soft. She started feeling more comfortable with me. Even leaned into me for a hug. Just a quiet shy girl.

I got my flu shot today at City Hall.
It was free.
My federal tax dollars at work.
I have a sweater on today but couldnt pull the sleeves high enough for her to give it to me, so I just half way took off my sweater so she could do it. It was a bunch of old lady nurses anyway, no biggie.

Yes, you too can still get your flu shot!

I have a Dr. appt tomorrow, so I will miss my usual dog walking time, but I am thinking about going in after my appt, even if just for a little bit. It looks like Marco is back. Either he wasn't really adopted and it was a mistake or someone brought him back. I want to find out. (yeah...I know, I do take much better pictures of the dogs than they do....I tried telling them)

I just checked the site and they have a new dog named Kit, she is 13 years old. That just makes me so sick! Who the hell would turn in a 13 year old dog?!?! She is an old laid back quiet dog, she should be enjoying her retirement!!! She only has another year or 2 tops left in her. Geez!

I went out after work last night with Navin, to a United Way event. His bosses were getting in Sumo suits and trying to knock each other over. I didn't know anyone there, which is good and bad. Good, because I didn't have to make small talk. But bad, cause it was really loud and I really didnt have anything worth yelling at to anyone around me. So I watched the first fight.
There were some appetizers out, but the table was constantly swarmed, and just not worth the trouble. So after the first fight I just left. I didnt want to say good bye and make a big "I am leaving thing", cause it wasn't really any big deal. Walked around a bit and then grabbed a cab to Union station. Had almost an hour before the next train left so I sat in McDonalds, ate and watched TV.
I saw the last 30 minutes of The Bachelor special, and the first 30 min of the Kennedy special.
The Kennedy special was really cool. They animated him back in his car and able to show it from all angles even above. Neat stuff.

Just checkin' in.
Been really busy at work the last few weeks.
Dont have any sites to even post for today.
Not seeing the dogs this Saturday, I have a Dr. appt, but Brad might go unless his ankles are bothering him again. If he does I will try to twist his arm into snapping a few pics.

Marco, Tiger and Penny so far this week have been adopted!!
I check their website during the week to see what's going on.

Brad & I have dentist appts tonight.
Tomorrow night I am going out after work with Navin to a United Way charity event where some managers get dressed as Sumo wrestlers and yuck it up. We are going cause they are Navin's boss's boss.
Planning on getting my flu shot at City Hall on Friday.

Brad has been making some wonderful soups lately. He is a fabulous cook. We are gonna cook a little for Thanksgiving. Just me and him. So get a turkey breast, stuffing, salad, and crustless pumpkin pie. Just keeping it simple.

Everything is going decent.

Bailey, Tequila, and Cici found homes!

Brad's ankles were bothering him, so I went by myself.
It was drizzly and cold out.
I like to walk by all the kennels before I go on my first walk. See who is new, and who found homes. Usually no one else is around. So I tell the dogs "Hi, my name is Sheri, and I will be your walker today."

I walked Marco first. I like him a lot, very sweet dog. He didn't seem himself though. His eyes and nose seemed pinker than usual, and he was drolling a lot when he normally doesnt. He also seemed a bit mellower. No cough or anything. So I told a staff member so they could keep an eye on him. Thinking it might just be a cold.

Next I walked Aussie. I hadn't walked her before. I thought her fur would be courser, the salt and pepper gives it that look. But actually its very very soft. She jumps and barks a lot in the kennel, I always thought she might be too much for me and drag me around. But actually she was very nice. She is super lovey dovey. I went in the kennel with her since it was drizzly out, to get in our affection time. She jumped up and put a paw on each shoulder like she was hugging me. Didn't jump, just stayed there like that while I pet and scratched her. She started kissing my neck, but kept licking where my scar is only. Likes to hug and kiss.

Lucy was my next walk. She has lots of energy. Her feet are white and looks like little white booties on her black body.

Another girl was walking dogs, but only took them out long enough to use the bathroom, I guess cause of the weather. So before I left I went over to some of the other dogs to say "hi", and sit with them in their kennels to give em some love.

On the way home I saw the Days Inn blocked off with police cars. Then further down the road 2 massive Special Response Units with police escorts drive by. Huge black military looking trucks. I called Brad at home and told him to get on the police scanner cause something big was happening. We heard the whole setup, it was really interesting. Story about it here.

I didn't sleep well the night before, and the cold weather just really wore me out. So I laid in bed while we listened to the scanner and stayed with it just long enough to hear the finale of them getting him and taking him to the hospital. Then fell asleep within seconds. Slept for a couple hours. Just wanted a hot bath. Felt bad cause I had plans for Heidi to come over and watch movies with us. But I was so whooped. I called Heidi, she wasn't feeling the best either, so we postphoned. And I went and soaked in the tub for 2 hours reading a book that Navin gave me that I just picked up again and am now getting into. The bath helped.

Then Brad and I went out for a late dinner at Panera. I had the 1/2 sandwich and bowl of soup. Perfect for a dreary day. We brought the laptop cause they have free wireless access, and Brad surfed while I made some phone calls to Beth and mom. Went to Target afterward, got somemore christmas gifts, and replaced my watch that I broke recently. Went home and wrapped myself in the blanket Josi made for me while we watched SNL.

Another good dog week.
Kane, Nova, Max, Bruno, Riley, and Maxwell all found homes this last week!
I'm especially happy for Bruno and Kane.

Great beautiful fall weather day to walk outside. Cool and crisp. Dogs love it and so do I.
I walked Marco first. He was there last week. Has such a sweet face and big sweet eyes. Very beefy muscular dog, could knock me over easy, but didnt pull very much on our walk and was very gentle with me. Likes to kiss. Very friendly.

Next I walked Bailey. A small Collie or Collie mix. She is a bit hesitant and unsure. But not mean at all. When she got nervous she would hide behind me.

I wanted to have fun with Penny, but it just didn't work out. She seemed to like me ok, but she hated the leash. Im not sure why, the color, the smell of the other dogs, maybe the size..she might like the smaller leashes since she is small. Soon as she saw the leash or it got near her she would snarl, growl, and attack it, and get really upset. At first I thought it was me, but when I put it away and put in my hand she was fine. So I went in the cage with her for a bit, and petted her tried to make her feel comfortable. She was up for that, but then when I got the leash out again, same thing. So we got some pets in, but no walk.

Tequila was a lot of fun. So lovey dovey. She would lean into me real hard. Lots of hugging and kissing, and I gave her scratches all over. She was just darling.

Brad & I both like Cici, she is an older overweight dog that is prone to seizures (she didnt have any while we were there), she drinks a lot of water so she might be diabetic too. But she is such a sweetheart. We could just hug and kiss her all day. Brad walked her. But loved her so much that we took her out in the run area with us before we left. We sat down with her and just took turns with hugs and kisses. Such soft fur, sweet little tail wags.

We stopped at PetSmart on the way home for some fish food, and there were tons of dogs there too. They were having a doggie social hour in the middle of the store and another area had 4 beautiful greyhounds from the greyhound rescue. I spent some time watching the dogs play together and we went over and gave some loving to the grayhounds, they are just so pretty and sweet.

Went to a Halloween party tonight at James's house in Lombard.
Had a good time, just nice seeing people I don't get to see too often, and I always like wearing my nun outfit.
Here are some pics from tonight.

This is a guy with explosives strapped to him, but it looked like a Baby Bjorn to me, like the guy in Get Fuzzy, that carries around the cat Bucky in.

I go out for some fresh air, and see an impromptu ninja moves lesson in the front yard.
Even the kids across the street riding their bikes made fun.

I loved this one! Just a great idea. Its the Sexual Harassment Panda!
