I changed my comments thingie.
I wasn't getting emails when comments were left, and the way it was set up I couldnt respond to them directly, just leave another comment.
So I switched from Haloscan to Blogback.
Should be good now.
But erased anything that was left before.

Me and Mark from last weekend. (Picture taken by Addy)

Yesterday there was a retirement party for one of the older managers.
I think when I started here over 3 years ago, my boss reported to him.
He was always very cool and laid back. A real gentleman. Very rare.
Just biding his time, not trying to prove anything.
It was a really nice party, I was really happy for him.
He made it. Got out while still being one of the good guys.
You get blacklisted for being a good guy, all the re-orgs take more and more reports away from you. Taking away power and responsibilities. But he still left with great respect from his peers. Never let that shit eat him up. It was a nice spread too. Several people spoke, his wife was there. Several people that left the company even came back just to show their support of him. It was really nice.

After work I went to a volunteer appreciation party for the Humane Society.
Had some snacks there too. I sat down at a table with a nice older couple, a oddball woman, and a young and somewhat attractive couple. I loved the older couple! The guy is the Santa every year at PetsMart. PetsMart provides the camera, film, and suit, and give half of the $10 to the Humane Society. And the older woman does an after school class to teach kids proper care of animals. They even whipped out wallet pics of their Boston Terriers to show me. SO SWEET! The woman of the younger couple just started 3 months ago and her focus is fund-raising. She said she has had many very important people hang up on her. Also a very nice couple.

Oddball woman was a complainer. Not very upbeat. I was saying how happy I was that Riley go adopted again. Then she says, "He came back the other day and they put him down cause he bit me." I was surprised, he did really well with Brad, he jumps, but didn't seem aggressive. But at that point, I was still somewhat open minded, I wasn't there blah blah blah. So okay. Then the director sits down at our table (working the room) and oddball then starts talking about a cat that bit her and how she still has marks from it and just going on and on about it! The director asked her if she reported it to the staff, and she said she didn't. Then the director asked her which cat it was and she told her. I was so mad! I shot out "You are just a regular chew toy aren't you?! It seems like every animal you come in contact with bites you!" In my usual half joking half serious smarminess, and every one chuckled like I was just teasing but I think they all knew. After the older couple got up to leave, then I was ready to leave too. I enjoyed them the most and didnt want to talk to the human chew toy anymore. As I was standing up she starting talking to me, I have no idea what she was saying. Gave her the smile and nod, and then abruptly said "It was really nice meeting you guys, goodnight." I darted out as I heard her mumbling something about leaving to. I was really booking too! She must have chased me out, but luckily I had pulled out my cell phone and dialed Brad by the time she caught up...so too bad, I couldn't talk....on the phone.
Besides her though, I did really enjoy the stories from the other couples.

Tonight I am gonna try to watch the debates.
I usually feel like it's all such bullshit, why should I bother?
I can't believe anything they say anyway.
And also I usually have trouble understanding what they are saying. It's all so cryptic and vague or they use figures that you can't back up and prove. Manager talk. I don't understand it when the guys do it at work either. But I am really going to try. I want to understand. And of course then watch the Daily Show to see what they have to say about it later tonight!

Wore a Polo sweater (from Goodwill) yesterday.
Brad likes to call it "pollo", and we talk about a pollo logo for our shirts.

Also, you know those tear drop tattoos? We were joking around the other night that for Brad he should have drool drop tattoos around his mouth. And what his gang sign would be, maybe putting his fingers in the shape of a doughnut?

Wearing another one of my new (new for me!) Goodwill sweaters today.
Hopefully having lunch with Brent today.
My friend at work, Katerina, gave me a mini pumpkin for my desk. I drew a Cartman face on it yesterday along with multiple chins. I really appreciate having girlfriends like her. I really like hanging out with my girls like Addy and Emily.
I am in a good frame of mind today.
Feeling happy and energetic.
Yesterday I wasted too much energy on my impatience with people.

Had a nice weekend.
Walked dogs, my usual.
Had fun with out of town guests visiting.
Went shopping at Goodwill, got some more sweaters.
Got some jeans from Old Navy, fit good, but even pants in "short" aren't really short, so I cut about 2-3 inches off of 'em.
Visited with my waxonatrix today.

I walked a Cockapoo named Sam first yesterday. After I put the leash on him, he hesitated and edged back in his kennel, so I stopped to see what he wanted. He wanted his bear, who I called Bobo. He went and gently grabbed Bobo to take on our walk. Prancing happily down the sidewalk with his friend. After he pooped, he seemed like he wanted to lay/hang out in the grass a bit. So we both sat down. Then he made sweet sweet love to Bobo.....several times. On the side of the road as cars went by. He loves Bobo.

Percy is still there, but on hold for a family. He seems a bit more relaxed this week. More playful.
He rolled around in the grass playing.

Last I walked George, a pitt mix puppy. Already knows how to sit! We've got some boys from a troubled kid program helping out with the dogs and teaching them tricks to help them get adopted. They are really great with the dogs.

Addy is in town visiting with her husband Jeff.
Yesterday they went downtown to go to the Field Museum. They were in a cab on their way to Union Station as I called to check on them on my way out of work. So I met them at the station and got them on express train with me and drove them back to their hotel.
Later that night I picked up Heidi on my way to pick up Addy and Jeff for some dinner. Went to Lou Malnatti's for pizza. Mark met us up there. It was our first time meeting him. He is very charismatic, and made his $20 bill into an origami elephant. Had a nice dinner, then walked around the local area. Went to Frankie's Blues Bar. Wasn't very bluesy. Cover band playing, was like good karaoke. However I still enjoyed it, because I knew all the songs, so I could sing along. The singer Christina Aguillera-ized all of the songs.

We have a live trap set up in the front yard for chipmunks. We had a bunch that were digging holes all around the front porch. So this this year we also got a bigger live trap for rabbits since we planted a small garden and some plants and flowers. No rabbits yet.
The other day I look out and see we have finally caught something. Couldn't tell what it was from the upstairs window, but looked like a rabbit or a small possum, wasn't sure. So we put on some shoes and went outside to check it out. It was a small cat. Might have been feral, not sure, but didn't seem like a housecat. He was freaked. After Brad opened the door to let him out, he shot out to the fence and climbed up and over it.

Got to walking dogs a little late yesterday. I walked Percy first. Lab mix. Seemed a bit nervous in his kennel. He was much better once we got outside. Such a pretty and serious face. Not sure what the scar was from on his forehead, but it might be from someone putting out their cigarette. :(

Next I walked Spunky, a 10 year old Chihuahua mix. He was Percy's neighbor. Funny little guy. Very funny, active and playful.

Then I took out Scooby. A Beagle/Hound mix. A sweet big boy. Very affectionate and loving. Brad came up with his dog Zander, and Scooby started hopping like a bunny. All fun and games till he hopped in my lap or on my feet! OUCH! He was funny though. Likes his ears being rubbed.

This is Zander. He thinks he is a lap dog. When Scooby would start hopping around he would jump in Brad's lap. Also very sweet and affectionate.

We were about to leave when we saw Mojo. He hadn't been out yet and looked like he really had to go, so we took him out together. Has a bit of a Collie nose. Super lovey-dovey. He just went back and forth between the two of us for loving. Such a beautiful happy face.

Lots of people helping out with dogs again yesterday. There are about 3 or 4 new guys. They look slightly out of place, but are really great with the dogs. They help clean the dogs area, walk them and work on training and behavior which is really cool.
It's nice when there are more people, then we can take out time with the dogs more. Brad and I can mellow out with our dogs and have the dogs meet and play with each other, and its just nice.

I took out Lucky first, and Brad took out Douglas, the older shepard mix from last week. Lucky likes to jump up for hugs. He'd jump up and put his paws on my shoulders.

Brad was getting ready to bring Douglas back in when I came out with a pitt mix 3 month old puppy named Snickers. Douglas was real gentle with the puppy and Snickers seem real interested in Douglas, so we went out to the field together and hung out in the shade playing. Snickers went after and followed Douglas out. Oh my god, this puppy is so cute! I don't usually go for puppies. He smelled good, so soft, and had the cutest little bloated Buddha belly.

Then we took out Bruiser and Nick. Shepard mix buddies in a kennel together. Both have slight hip displaxia. Couldn't tell when I was outside with them, both are very strong, playful and active. They pulled hard on the walk, but when we sat to play with them, very lovey dogs. Perfect for great big bear hugs!

We went to get blood drawn from me to check my thyroid after that, to regulate my medication. Then went to a local farm, bought some corn, a cucumber, some pickles, and a loaf of whole wheat bread a woman was selling that she had made. Then went home, picked on grapes and bread...next thing we know its nap time. Brad took his sofa. I ended up outside in the hammock for about an hour.

Today went to Cheeseburger in Paradise for brunch. Brad had the El Cubano (Ham, salami, pork and Swiss cheese on Cuban bread with sweet potato chips) I had the Cheeseburger in Paradise w/grilled onions. Hamburger was good, very good iced tea, good french fries and loads of them. Brad thought his sandwich was very good and said the sweet potato chips were the best he ever had. He wore the white t shirt of his he seems to hate. Everytime he wears it he spills stuff all over it. Today during lunch he managed to get a big plop of Heinz 57 on it.

Next we went to Fry's Electronics to look around. New store opening. Brad didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. Huge place, very comfortable, not warehousey. Had a food area, muffins, bagels, coffee, chips, general snacks and hang out spot. Product wise they had everything under the sun just about. We liked the store, and could see ourselves going back there to hang out for something to do and just watch people. We do that sort of stuff.....

Then we drove to Geneva to see if The Little Traveler was open. It wasn't. But walking around downtown Geneva was nice anyway. Cute little area. Someone Brad works with said it was a cool place to go through, but they are closed on Sundays. So then we went to a farmers market. Got there right before they closed at 4pm. Bought some corn and tomatos. It's on the way home from work for Brad, he had brought some corn and tomatos home on Friday night for our dinner, and it was just to damn good! The family has goats, ducks, geese, chicken, and an emu behind the market area. I asked if I could go visit with them. The farmers kids went back with us and fed the animals cut up squash and whole ears of corn. They all loved eating the corn peels. I love goats, I think in personality they are very similar to dogs.

Yesterday when we went to walk dogs, there was a lot of people there helping out.
It was good to see. I noticed Douglas first, a big 10 year old Shepard mix. I thought he looked kind of sad and lonely. So Brad took him outside for some loving. I took out Feynman, a 1 year old Beagle mix. Feynman pooped outside right away like he was holding it. He seemed to respond to commands also. Knew sit, and as active as he was he seemed to be able to control himself when motivated. He loved being scratched. His butt, his chest. His skin itched and bothered him, so when I scratched him all over with my nail he was so covered in goody spots I though he was humping, but he was shaking from goody spots. He had lots of fluid in his ears bothering him.
He also did this funny thing, he would lay down in the grass, and then crawl with his 2 front legs sliding his crotch over the cool grass like a wounded soldier.

He made dopey faces while being scratched.

Brad and I met up and sat together with our dogs. Each dog was curious about the new person, so we traded dogs. Douglas just wants to lay down and get scratched and loved. So I laid down in the grass with him and scratched him all over. He seemed like an old dog that tended to get over looked because he was so calm and low key but wanted loving too, just didn't demand it.

One of the boys working today came over to us with a little dog named Spunky. One of those slightly awkward kids, dressed in all black, I think his shirt said "Reign of Darkness" or something like that. I was talking to him, and introduced me and Brad to him, and he just said something like "ok". It made me laugh, it seemed like I was laughing at the dogs but I was really laughing at the kids reaction. He came over to us, and seemed nice enough, just the type of person that it takes more effort on his part to be sociable, and not the best at it.

After awhile Brad and I brought the dogs back in and decided to give Feynman a bath and clean his ears out. We found some coal tar shampoo that might help with his skin and dandruff. He was a good sport. Then we found some liquid ear stuff, that was tough on him. He didn't like the liquid, but he did like it with we would wrap some paper towel around our fingers and swizzle out his ears. We let him see and smell what we cleaned out and he seemed pretty happy about it.

After dog time, we went to the local "Last Fling", community street fair. Very hot out. We split a corn dog with some mustard. I like these kind of things, at least for the people watching.
