Chicago Sheri

Last night Brad and I went to Brent's place for game night. Got to meet Brents new boyfriend David. Met some other people over there as well. Emily went over with us. It was a good night, fun playing pictionary, boys against girls. Brad and I brought over some of his homemade guacamole.

Today slept in, got laundry going. Sat by the fireplace at Atlanta Bread Company and read the Sunday paper. Went to Super Target for some birthday gifts and a few grocery items.
Settling in to watch the pre-Oscar show.

Gray day, colder than I thought it would be because of the wind.
Went to Atlanta Bread Company on my way to walk dogs, my new routine.
Sat and ate a sourdough roll with butter as I read my soap opera updates from yesterday.

I walked Phantom first. Not the best name for him. 2 year old basset hound with a very hoarse bark.
He was very happy to go outside and waddled all over the place.

Next I walked Tyler, I have no idea what Tyler is. He has long thick (not wiry...but really soft like Pantene hair) curly hair.
Looks like the cut the hair out of his eyes so he could see. He also had fun racing around outside with me, we even played and chased each other around the field for a bit.

I asked about Hercules and Lottie before I left. They weren't there, but I didn't see anything about them being adopted. They told me both and a few other were put down. They didn't pass the food test, meaning they growled when someone took their food. I was fine when she told me. I know they test all the dogs. I asked her if staff or volunteers could adopt the dog before it passed or failed a test or even though if failed and she said no. Most of these dogs aren't fixed yet, I just don't think it's fair. A lot of them are totally different dogs after being fixed it seems like a lot of the domination issues go away after that. But then I told myself, the dogs are happier here than where they were. They get water, food and treats, and love. They have blankets and toys. This place is a much better place than where they were, and dying by being hit by a car, starving or in a dog fight is a much more violent way to go. But still...it just hit me hard today. I called Brad from the parking lot and cried when I told him. I came right home and got back into bed with him and snuggled. He is so sweet...when I am sad I can't get warm, so he turned the heat up a few notches before I got home. And after some time in bed he fixed me lunch and brought it up to me. Grilled chicken with broccoli and red pepper. Then we laid back down and went to sleep for a bit.

I fell in love with Hercules today. Bulldog pitt mix, about 1 to 2 years old. Big boxy head. Jumped all over me. I got covered in slobber, he tried to eat my hair and ear. God, I love that face.

Next I walked Lottie, a 4 year old german shepard. Big sweet dog. She had a lot of bumps on her face, not sure if they were scratches from a fight or severe tick bites.

Lucky was a small mix of I don't know what, kind of jack russell terrier looking but in that first pic I think I see a little whippet in him.

I started getting snotty sick on Thursday and am now even snottier.
So we aren't going to the Super Bowl party as we planned.
Got more tissues and am watching the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet.

Went out for lunch today with Don and Emily to Bangkok Village for some pad thai. Then went to Goodwill. I got a black velvet Gap skirt and a long vinyl tight fitting coat. The joys of Goodwill.
Then went to see Emily's new booth she opened in Consignment Warehouse. It looked really good, cute mannequins set up to show off her hats. Then went to Joy Yee's for fruit drinks. I had a good time.

Tomorrow Brad got us a room at a hotel for my birthday on Saturday. We actually went to several, looking to see who had the nicest pool. Cause I really like swimming. So my birthday gift from him is to swim all I want. The pool is open until 11pm, and we will check in early tomorrow, and then I will even swim after we check out on Saturday before we go home. Cause then we can just dry off and jump in the car and shower at home. So I'm excited. Since I had the week at home, I went ahead and made my birthday cake to pick on all week.

And I even twisted Brad's arm into going to a work related Super Bowl party with me. We usually stay home and watch it together. Not really into the game...yes, we watch it for the commercials. So thanks honey!

I am working from home this week.
It's been wonderful!!
I actually think I work more at home then at work.
Emily let me borrow Nacho for the week to keep me company.
