I have been watching a couple of geese every morning and afternoon.
As I cross the bridge from Union Station on Jackson and look down to the river, there in one of the lower planters is a goose sitting on a nest. Her partner is usually nearby keeping watch. One day they both got into a fight with a pack of sea gulls, they were all yelling at each other. But usually they are just sitting there quietly, hardly noticeable. I hope I get to see the babies.

On a lighter note.....

I finished my first knitting project, and it's HUGE!!
30 loops per row, 27 rows per color, 3 colors, and well over 6 feet long.
A big scarf for Brad.

It's finally over
She is dead.

Peak Oil has been on my mind. You should google "peak oil" and read up.
Some many things seem to tie it all together for me.
As I read up on it I think about the 1968 film "2001: A Space Odyssey" and how it was about how we were losing control of our tools. (technology) Produce, consume, and maintain ever increasing amounts of need. Technology feeding on itself and the tremendous amounts of resources that are wasted. Then over the weekend Brad and I watched " Koyaanisqatsi" (Life out of Balance) a film from 1983. No words, script, just visuals that left me with the same feelings. (I feel this part sounds silly...) But then on Saturday night, the new Little House on the Praire was on and we watched that too. And all that just has really stuck out in my mind, all tying together. Using up our resources. Where is this going put us? Going back to being community based, living everything out more locally, if not entirely. Becoming a more viable member of a community, not as anonymous and nonstop "infotainment" based. A lot of this reminds me of the Y2K fears. A lot made into nothing. But it still needs to be considered, it's a reasonable possibility and concern.

Walked dogs at the local Humane Society again today.
Walked Mattie first, 2 year old Pit. Very quiet dog. Had the stripes of a Mastiff.

Storm is a Husky, one ear up, one ear down. One eye blue, one eye brown...with a touch of pink on his nose.

Petey is a 4 year old German Shepard, he liked to knock me over. I was sitting down next to him outside and he would just push into me so hard, and then look like he was laughing about it.

Belle is a beautiful Boxer, huge girl, looks like a Marmaduke kind of dog. She was really sweet with Keona the pitt bull puppy that came over to her, She let Keona lick her ears and jump on her face, but I had to hold her still so she didn't accidently step on Keona.

Walked dogs today.

Bruno was there last week, some kind of Sharpei mix, really funny face. When he shakes his head hs cheeks just flop all over the place and make a lot of noise, and he snorts too...its so adorable.

One puppy in a group of 4 was just screaming his head off, wanting to be held. His brothers were all curled up asleep and he stood at the door to their kennel just shrieking. So I went in to hush him down.

At one point he fell over into their food bowl, and at the sound of their puppy food the 3 brothers lifted their heads and I got a shot of them before they went back to sleep.

Keona is a 3 month old pitt mix. Only one eye, not sure why that is. I as on his bad eye side at on point during our walk and he kept walking into me. Very playful sweet, likes to be held and sit in your lap. One of the other regular walkers came out and sat with us before he left, he liked Keona a lot too, and wanted to say good-bye before he left to her.

There is another group of puppies, but these are only just maybe 2 weeks old, their eyes still not open. They make little squeaky noises too. :)

Yesterday Brad brought home Pete the dog with him. We are dog sitting for Brad's boss. Pete is a big old sweet dog, so we have a dog all this week!!

Today an older guy was sitting across the seat from me on the way into work.
He had on a dark green sweater for St. Patricks day. No wedding ring. Military look to him.
Smelled a bit of alcohol to me, its a smell I associate with alcoholics, but I am not 100% on my evaluation.
He was very courteous of giving my legs room, it was really sweet.
And he called his son, told him he was going to have a free lunch and drinks later with some guys later, and told his son he loved him before hanging up. I don't usually see men over 60 expressing love and affection, so I always have a soft spot for it.

Yesterday on the train home, the I sat right in front of the 4 seater section. A young kid with teeth missing was up there and a guy I regularly see was asking the kid for money to ride the train. I see that guy all the fucking time, almost like every other day asking for money to and from on the train. Irritates the hell outta me. The kid was genuine and seemed concerned, so I reassured him that the guy was regularly asking for money and not to sweat it. The a group of 3 middle-aged women sat with him. The kid was a bit on the dim side, but such a sweetness to him. He joined the women in their conversations, I looked down listening in to them, and he was just too sweet in a naive sort of way that made me smile as I listened.

Today I am having lunch with my friend Ceven. He is briefly back in Chicago before going back to Germany. I brought my camera hoping to take a few pics.

Dear guy I thought was cool-
You looked like an interesting person. I made an effort to get to know you. The joke emails you send me show me my evaluation of people is slightly off. I hate those wordy lame emails all the time. WORST JOKES EVAR!! I am so disappointed in you, I thought you were so much cooler than that to send me such lame ass emails.

Dear Guy that sat next to me on the train this morning-
You are just weird. I don't like talking in the morning, and all the health questions you asked me were just plain odd. You asked me if my husband flossed for christs sake! Is it some weird fetish? Please don't sit next to me again.

Dear headache-
GO AWAY!!!

Love,
Sheri

Went to walk dogs this morning, to get my weekly dog fix.
Freckles a 7 year old dalmatian seemed like she really need to go, so I took her out first. She doesn't seem or act 7 years old, a bit skittish. She likes people and at first races up to see them, but then soon as she is close she acts like she forget herself in her earlier excitement and wasn't so sure about things once she would get up on someone. She shed a lot. I pulled her in for a few bear hugs during breaks on our walk. She would sit on command for treats.

Next I walked Molly. Long sad face. Another skittish dog, but only 10 months old. She liked people but was scared of other dogs. We saw Bruno (big white dog below) who is just a gentle giant, and he came up to say hello to her and she got all freaked out and barked at him to stay away, and then her and I ran off.
I like Molly a lot, not very puppy acting, more mature. Very soft to touch and hug, and likes a good hug.

Bruno, a lab mix, and also about 7 years old is the very lgentle giant of the bunch. A bit over fed, so he is more like the size of a pony. Big eyes, very quiet and just thrilled to have company in his new home for a visit.

Last I popped in to see Toby, 3 months old. Like a little stuffed toy. His panda beany baby isn't that much smaller than him. Big eyes, that suckers everyone in who looks at him.

Brad went with me to walk dogs today. There were a lot of other walkers there today.
I spent time with Bear. Bear was there last week. Was more nervous last time, doing much better this week. Bear is marked "Staff only", so I asked if I could go in and spend time with Bear. They said I couldn't because their insurance wouldn't cover it. Bear isn't up for adoption, he is a "safe house" dog. They are just holding there to help out a domestic violence issue, and giving him a place to stay that would be safe for him. Which is cool. But Bear looked so lonely.... I squatted and shrunk down, put my hand out and didn't make eye contact, let him smell me, he leaned in wanted to smell my head and hair. Seemed ok with me. So I stuck my finger through and pet him, he let me, presented his back against the cage so I could pet him better. I opened his cage and stuck my arm in to pet him better, he got really happy with the attention. I'm glad I got to spend a little time with him, even though I wasn't supposed to.

Brad fell in love with Onyx. A lab/pit mix. Such a sweet gentle lovely girl. Never made a sound, and just wanted to be pet, would lay her head on him and close her eyes, and then lean in for more. We both went in her kennel with her and gave her lovey dovey time. She has such a sweet face.
